This week I am going to relax and take it easy. I have already read through the A3 Back to basics assignment and will read it through a few more time to get familiar with it. I will then start to write down some questions I have about it. I’m looking forwards to going back to college to find out my results, which hopefully I won’t regret getting. But at the same time I’m nervous as I know we are going to have to do a presentation, which I am really not looking forwards to. Suppose we have to do them sooner or later though.
I have also been looking into buying a domain name and web host, I know which web host I am going to use, but when I tried to buy a domain name I was not allowed. This happened on a number of websites and they all said I had to ring customer services to proceed with my request. Does any one know if that is a normal procedure? I have tried phoning 123-reg.co.uk, but could not get through, so I’m going to try again tomorrow.
For the rest of the week I am going to try and forget about the presentation thing and start messing about with some programs to get used to them.
There is also another thing that I’m nervous about and that is what Steve has in store for us in reading week.
Hi Greg
I think that we are all a little apprehensive about the presentations; however, rather than seeing them as something we ‘have’ to do, look at it in the light of, its good personal development.
I also believe that the presentations will make everyone much more relaxed as a group.
With regards you domain name, this is not normal practice. I am not sure what has happened.
I have used 123-reg for all the domain names I have purchased without any problems.
What was the domain name you were trying to buy and I will have a look.
Again, with regards the reading week, try to think positive. I see it as a challenge and an opportunity for personal and professional growth.
As I have said to Andy on his journal, I am looking forward to working with Andy and you during this next term.
I am sure that between us, (especially with the experience behind us of the last assignment), we will really pull together and achieve something great.
Thanks Shaun it does seen best to look at it as personal development.
I got the domain name sorted; it was something to do with my card. So I used a different one and had no problems.
I’m also looking forwards to working with you and Andy.
Yes am nervous about getting my grades too but am sure every one will have done fine but its all about learning.
I think its a good idea too looking at different software. It will make it better for us at college so that we know how they work.
Hey Everyone
I am trying to drum up some interest in my most recent journal entry.
The focus of this is the third paragraph and Steve’s comments regarding it.
I would really appreciate it if people could leave a comment showing how they feel about the situation and any possible solutions.

Thank you for your time and support
Shaun Bellis.
Good to here you got your domain registered eventually. I am planning to register mine with 123-reg as well so I am glad to here both you and shaun recommending them.
The presentations in my experience don’t get better over time. Like Steve was saying he still gets nervous and how long has he been doing it.
I think I am going to take the conversational approach when I do mine as I will feel more natural and relaxed as well as the audience. But the way I see it is, If we think we are going to be scared then we will. We have got to do it so we may as well just get on with it and not think about our fears. Let the adrenalin take us!
Greg, i am having the same problem, with presentations, though i think the best thing to do is take a deap breath, i no it sound’s simple but it rearly does work, as i stated on another blog, i think it will be ok infront of the class as we all know each other however infront of a client i dont think ide hold up as well.
